Synthesis

The blog project was very informative and I learned a good deal about what it means to be a nurse. In my time researching the profession I came across a lot of awesome medical technologies and many articles explaining what nurses are going through in today's society. I believe that the learning process for writing a blog is a very efficient way to learn about something, especially when it is as important as learning about your own career path. The truth of this field is that nurses are just as important as a doctor because without them the hospital would not run nearly as well, and also that a hospital is a high tension environment and since lives are on the line it is important to be very professional.

By creating this blog I learned about current challenges that the nursing field is going through right now, and just being up to date on what is happening in the field makes me more prepared to be a nurse. Like I talked about in my ninth prompted post, the nursing field is trying very hard to diversify its participants. It wants to bring in the underrepresented/minority population so they when someone from that class comes into the hospital they will feel more comfortable because they are treated by someone similar to them. Also this field is trying to bring in more males to be nurses for the same reason, because some people would prefer to be treated by their own gender. Some other issues the field is going through are problems in nursing homes where they want to put cameras in the patients rooms to monitor them or the changes that people want to make in training nurses. Like I discussed in my sixth prompted post, people want to change the training that nurses undergo to less of a classroom setting and more of a hands on setting. People believe that it is better to learn in a live situation than from writing essays and listening to lectures.

I personally agree with this as I mention in my first prompted post. Learning happens when you immerse yourself in something completely and that is why hands on experience is the best way to learn. Textbooks and lectures are often extremely helpful but when it comes to learning, there is no better way than hands on. I learned a lot about what is going on in the nursing field by writing this blog but all of my actual training came from my work at St Johns Providence. I feel prepared to become a nurse because I learned so much from my hands on training working under other registered nurses, and researching the field through this blog also helped me stay up to date with what is happening and changes in the field. The mixture of my hands on training and research for this blog has me confident that I will make a great nurse someday.

I think the things I did well on the blog is making everything connect to each other in some way. Most of my posts are related and add onto each other and I think that makes it flow really well. What I foud most difficult about this project is just finding the right articles online. There were times where I would be scrolling the internet for awhile searching for something interesting to wright about.Next year I will hopefully be in the nursing college and hope to use everything I have learned up till now to help me though the program. I believe that I am in a good position because I now have a good amount of knowledge about the field and the hands on training to back it up. I am excited to use what I have learned both from writing this blog and my internship to become the best nurse that I can be,
